What is Polished Concrete?
Husqvarna HiPERFLOOR is a revolutionary flooring concept for the grinding and polishing of old and new concrete floors. Husqvarna has combined advancements in planetary floor grinders, floor treatment products and the latest resin diamond technologies to create a system whereby new and old concrete floors can be transformed into highly abrasion-resistant, incredibly dense, smooth and visually appealing surfaces. Polished concrete floors are suitable for residential, commercial and industrial areas and are flexible enough to be ideal for anything from warehouses and parking garages to hotels, showrooms and shopping malls....
Concrete Polishing Finishing Options
Concrete polishing can be finished from a matt to high gloss appearance depending on the customers preference. Materials added to the concrete are uncovered to a low or high exposure depending on the desired outcome. Once ground, polished and sealed the unique underlying concrete is revealed in a hard wearing, practical and beautiful floor. (See our photo gallery to see examples of adding or exposing materials within the concrete).
Materials that can be added to concrete to include:
- A variety of aggregate can be added to the concrete to give a unique colour and texture
- 'Seeding' other materials into the top layer of the concrete such as glass, brass, precious stones, marble etc so they can be seen once the concrete is ground down
Film coatings are a coating applied to the top of concrete to create a dustless gloss finish where the coating becomes the wearing surface of the floor.
We use a gloss finish polyurethane for internal floors. We recommend the use of a UV stable coating system for outdoor areas which also have greater slip resisteance.
Film coatings can be separated into two main categories, clear coatings and coloured coatings. Clear coatings are often referred to as polished concrete.

Frequently Asked Questions
This is up to you. We do recommend some things like pouring at 32mpa instead of the standard 25mpa. (See our download on guidelines for new slabs). You can also choose special aggregate mixes to add colour and/or add colour to the concrete itself. It's all about tailoring the floor to make it look the way you want it to. After the concrete is poured your options become limited to exposure levels, finishing levels and tinting/staining the concrete. How far do you travel?
We concentrate on Victoria and Southern NSW however we have travelled as far as the Blue Mountains. We are willing to travel just about anywhere! Can you polish old concrete
Yes! The results can vary and are hard to predict if you do not know what aggregate has been used but you can definately achieve a beautiful seamless gloss floor with our processes. Have a look at our photo gallery, there is an amazing before and after shot of a really badly damaged floor that came up beautifully.
